Here at Suffolk Marquees, we come face-to-face with many bride and bridegrooms throughout the year. One thing we always enjoy is hearing the story of how the special couple got engaged. We\u2019ve heard many a tale \u2013 some extravagant and lavish, some incredibly intimate and beautiful, so we thought we\u2019d inspire you with our favourite ways to propose.<\/p>\n

Propose In Public<\/h2>\n

No pressure, then! If your partner enjoys a bit of a fuss and loves being the centre of attention, how about a trip to the theatre finished with a proposal after the cast\u2019s curtain call? Book tickets for your partner\u2019s favourite band and arrange in advance for the band to make an announcement. Got some budget to play with? A weekend break to somewhere like New York finished with a proposal atop the liberty statue would be one to remember! And why not have someone record the proposal? You can set up a video camera or a phone on a tripod to record the big moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Public proposals don\u2019t have to involve all singing, all dancing flash mobs. You can make a public marriage proposal personal and intimate. Why not pop the question on top of a viewing point? If you\u2019re heading to a circus, make sure you grab some seats on the ferris wheel \u2013 <\/span>you could ask the operator to stop it at the top and use that opportunity to propose. <\/span>Love a spot of stargazing? Grab some blankets, pillows and a picnic and make yourselves comfy somewhere secluded. What could be more romantic than popping the question under the stars?<\/span><\/p>\n

It may sound cheesy, but a house filled with roses and rose petals is definitely romantic and impressive. Be waiting for your loved one with a glass of champagne and some strawberries. Romantic meal at home? Write \u2018Will you marry me\u2019 on top of dessert. Best. Dessert. Ever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Love spending warm summer evenings in the garden together? Why not spell out the big question with fairy lights? Or if you\u2019re lovers of board games, you could end a game of scrabble with some strategically placed letters to spell out the big question.<\/span><\/p>\n

Propose On Holiday<\/h2>\n

Heading somewhere warm? A sunset walk followed by a romantic candle-lit dinner on the beach is a winner, for sure. Prefer somewhere colder? Why not pop the big question on the piste? If you\u2019re feeling creative, you could write the big question in the snow before getting on the ski lift so your partner reads it on the way up the mountain. If you are enjoying New Year\u2019s Eve abroad, waiting for the countdown \u2013 a universal time of celebration \u2013 and then proposing is sure to go down a treat. Hiking up a mountain? Getting down on one knee at the very top is a memorable way to ask your partner to be yours.<\/span><\/p>\n
